Choose the correct Mac download
Acedly provides separate desktop builds for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Open About This Mac to identify the chip when you are unsure, then use the matching download from the official Acedly download page. The current desktop requirement is macOS 12.0 or later.
Finish installation and sign in before the day of the interview. Keeping the desktop app current matters because meeting clients and operating-system capture behavior change over time.
Grant permissions from the operating system prompt
Live desktop workflows may request Microphone access and Screen & System Audio Recording access. Review the macOS prompt and grant the permissions required by the workflow you intend to use. Acedly uses system audio to hear the remote side of a supported call and the selected microphone when your voice is part of the session.
If Screen Recording was just enabled, quit and reopen Acedly. macOS can show the permission as enabled in System Settings before the running app receives the new access.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security when a requested permission remains blocked.
- Confirm Acedly appears under Microphone and Screen & System Audio Recording.
- Restart Acedly after granting Screen Recording access for the first time.
- Return to the session setup and run the permission check again.
Test the complete audio path
A microphone meter alone does not prove that the interviewer's audio will be captured. Start a short practice call on the exact meeting platform, choose the microphone you will use, and verify that both sides of the conversation appear in the transcript.
Use headphones and device settings that match the real interview. If the system-audio check fails, restart the app and recheck Screen & System Audio Recording permission before changing unrelated microphone settings.
Prepare a fallback that does not depend on new permissions
Keep the web app and your interview materials available even when you plan to use the desktop client. For practice or visual questions, screenshot upload and pasted prompts provide another way to add context. Do not troubleshoot operating-system permissions for the first time during a live interview.
